This article shows some possibilities to think about the past of the metropolization process in Brazil, focusing on the period of the construction of public stadiums across the country. Stadiums of “gigantic” dimensions in the state capitals or stadiums of reduced size in smaller cities were built with contributions from the federal government and the state and municipal governments in partnership with contractors. Many of these constructions were investigated and these processes are in the digital archives of the Sistema de Informações do Arquivo Nacional (Sian) [National Archives Information System].
