This article studies the insertion of the Literary Society of Rio de Janeiro’s activities in the universe of Luso-Brazilian education. It highlights the role played by the sciences of nature in developing a feeling of Brazilian specificity, which will be one of the elements of the national identity ffashioned by the future generation.
